Personalized Sailing Instruction on Lake Superior

New to sailing or just looking to refresh your skills, Superior Charters Sailing School courses are designed to expand your skills, whatever your level of expertise. Your classroom is the charter boat in the protected Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. Your instructor is one of our U.S. Coast Guard licensed captains. With over 25 years of experience and thousands of trained skippers to our credit, you can trust us to provide you with the training you need to enjoyably and safely boat on Lake Superior !

Unlike other schools, you will be learning, sailing and sleeping on your own boat - no other housing costs to pay! All of our packages include:

Sign up today! Only $250 per student deposit will hold your place in any course. The balance due will be collected 30 days before the class begins.

Special! When two or more sign up at the same time, receive a discount of $200 - $250.

Add a crew member! For a reduced fee, bring along an additional hand on basic certification courses who can gain boating experience while you're certified.

 

Course Descriptions

'Learn to Sail' Basic Certification :: Two Days - Two Sailors Certified $795 per person
No previous sailing experience required - our bareboat charter certification program designed to prepare you to charter a sailboat on your own in the Apostle Islands

'Learn to Sail' Overnight Certification :: Three Days - Two Sailors Certified $1195 per person
No previous sailing experience required - our bareboat charter certification program designed to prepare you to charter a sailboat on your own in the Apostle Islands and includes an overnight at anchor with the instructor

'Beyond the Islands' Certification :: Four Days - Three Sailors Minimum $1195 per person
Must be previously certified - designed to prepare you to charter a sailboat outside the Apostle Islands and will take you, with the instructor, to such ports as Silver Bay, MN or Black River Harbor, MI

Advanced Sailing Certification :: Five Days - Four Sailors Min/Max $1295 per person
Must be previously certified - this package gives you an exciting adventure including an overnight passage as you pilot your boat to such ports as Isle Royale National Park and Grand Marais, MN

Refresh & Upgrade Certification :: One Day - One Person Re-trained $250 + boat cost
This course is for the experienced crew that may want to refresh skills or upgrade to a larger yacht. Powerboat instruction is also available in this category.
