Yacht Description
"Blue Heron" - Designed by Sparkman and Stephens to effectively incorporate many features important to cruising and racing in a 37-foot hull. Sailing performance and quality construction in an aesthetically pleasing package have been keys to Tartan's success. With sail area of 625 square feet driving a decidedly efficient hull, she is capable of keeping up with the best race boats as well as impressive, comfortable extended cruising.
When it comes to performance, sailing to weather, Blue Heron is excellent and the cockpit remains dry with the shelter of a large dodger. Offwind performance ranks among the best. Plenty of rudder contributes to great control in full-sail reaching or running situations.
The Tartan 37' interior is traditional and more accommodating than might be expected with 11'9" of beam. It features lots of teak veneer and trim. The V-berth is commodious for two with the insert in place. The starboard, main-cabin settee works well as a single and the port settee converts to a double. The double quarterberth aft is a perk not usually found in a boat this size. Blue Heron makes for a comfortable charter boat for a weekend getaway or an extended cruise.
